CAI Community Living Fall Issue 2008

Summers gone and here comes Fall: Wow, what a busy summer! I hope you made the most of it. CAI-MN had an incredible summer. We started with the Vision Awards in June which continues to grow in attendance, nominations and stature. Thank you to Melinda Johnson and Holly Johnson and the rest of the committee for all of your hard work on the evening. In July, we had a huge success with the Golf Tournament. We grew from 70 golfers to 112 and we sold sponsorships for every hole. We are confident that next year, we will sell out the entire tournament early. Tom Engblom, Tosh Tricas and the golf committee did a terrific job. Over the past 2 years, CAI-MN has had a committee looking into the licensing of property managers. The committee led by Alice Finley worked very hard and presented their findings to the board. The board of directors has reviewed their findings and concluded that CAI-MN will not be pursuing state mandated licensure for property managers. We will be offering a CAI-MN seminar that teaches the Minnesota specific requirements of MCIOA. CAI-MN is blessed with so many self less volunteers that make up the back bone of the Institute and allow it to take a leadership role. Our thanks and gratitude goes out to the committee for all of their hard work. Being a member and getting involved with CAI has been a great benefit to me and my company. I hear the same thing from Ben from Craftsman’s Choice, Keith from BEI and Dan Denekamp from US Bank. The managers, sponsors and board members at CAI are the best in the industry. One of the primary ways that I like to assist people is to introduce them to trusted professionals who can help them. They always appreciate being introduced to a new client or exceptional trade partner. Take the time this week to introduce one of your favorite clients to CAI. Invite your favorite vendor to attend the next managers meeting with you. You will be helping them professionally and they will appreciate your thoughtfulness. Sincerely, Mark Schoenfelder
